Volunteers wanted for Back to Back Dumfries!

The Stove’s next event follows on from the success of last year’s Punkin' the Jubilee - held on Guid Nychburris 2012. This year, we are taking to the Streets of Dumfries with our new project Back to Back Dumfries.

We will be mapping a contemporary identity for Dumfries via a street art themed large scale pavement drawing. Stencils and spray chalk at the ready - we invite you to make your mark on our vision of the town. Stencils are currently in the process of being designed in partnership with local youth group YES (Youth Enquiry Service).

Want to get involved?
We are looking for Stovie volunteers to help out on Guid Nychburris Day for a few hours, to keep the event organised and running smoothly, assisting participants of all ages and forming the face of The Stove - as well as getting down and contributing to what will be a temporary and ephemeral artwork.

No special arts skills required, just enthusiasm and old clothes. Sound like your thing?
Give us a shout this week at info@thestove.org

Not up for volunteering?
Come along and mark yourself down on our map, and watch the work grow throughout the afternoon. See you there!

(A wee reminder of how much fun last year's event was!)

The Stove: Gently tickling the underbelly of Dumfries.

Hope everyone enjoyed Guid Nychburris yesterday despite the rain. Our t-shirts and badge making went down a treat with over 150 t-shirts and 200 badges created and handed out to the happy Doonhamers. In case you missed our blimp, here a photo of it, just before it crashed into the fountain...

Surprise cover of No Feelings.

As our poster continues to cause sales of Rennies rocket in Dumfries, here's a medley of pastel flavoured Pistol covers to appease the easily disconcerted.

Punkin' the Jubilee

For the next happening at The Stove we will be joining in with Dumfries’ Guid Nychburris on Saturday 16th June. Using DIY fashion and music by turning 100 High St into a 100 club with T-Shirt printing factory and music venue.
The populous of Dumfropolis will be invited to come in and pick from a set of one-off designs – print their own t-shirt, customise it and wear it to a gig in the square outside.
We are committed to the idea of this as something that is fast and dirty in the way it comes together and are looking for a team of anarchic-spirited folk, to be part of it in a number of ways:
1. Make a zeitgeist design to mark the Jubilee (the jubilee of whatever, is up to you)….what we are looking for are one colour designs that can be screen printed onto t-shirts/badges etc (see technical details below)
2. Come along to a free screenprinting workshop with DIY screen printing expert Geraldine Greene
3. Help out on 16th June at The Stove  Factory Shop– screenprinting, badgemaking, Polaroid making, or as a roadie
